Two professors from UMBI's Medical Biotechnology Center (MBC) have been awarded Exploratory Grants from the Maryland Stem Cell Research Fund (MSCRF).
Dr. Ilia Baskakov, (above left) Associate Professor and Head of the Institute for Prion Diseases at MBC, will study the design of self-assembling peptide scaffold
for controlling neural stem cell state and fate.
Dr. Mervyn Monteiro, (above right) Professor and Head of the Institute for Neurodegenerative Diseases, will observe the role of
ubiquilin in regulating proliferation and differentiation of human stem
cells.
