Baltimore, MD — The search for solutions to environmental problems caused by
human activity has turned to plants. Plants are now seen as partners in solving
environmental problems ranging from toxic wastes to global warming, says Dr.
Lee Newman, an expert in this new field known as phytoremediation. Dr.
Newman will be presenting the latest developments in her forthcoming lecture,
titled “Using Plants to Treat Environmental Problems,” to be held at UMBI,
in Baltimore’s Inner Harbor, at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 7, 2008.
