Education Stakeholders Day
"Enriching Science Education Through Partnering & Innovation"

Where: University of Maryland Biotechnology Institute

              Baltimore, MD 21202   

When: Friday, March 31, 2006

Time: 8:30 a.m.-2:00 p.m.

Purpose: To showcase K-12 efforts underway in Maryland to improve math and science education; to foster discussions on science and technology careers; to provide resources to teachers and to encourage students to explore science careers.

The program includes:

         9:20-10:45am:
            A panel discussion focusing on “Career and Technology Education in the Biosciences” by:
                    Dr. Lynne Gilli - Maryland State Department of Education
                    Dr. Carolyn Malstrom -“Project Lead the Way”
                    Dr. Tonya Matthews - Maryland Science Center
                    Mr. James Potter - Johns Hopkins University

         11:00-12:00pm: Concurrent Interactive Sessions (Great Visuals)
                    • Observation of a Live hands-on Scitech Lab Module
                    • Poster Session on how to incorporate “hands-on” activities in the classroom
                    • BioInformatics Training Session
                    • Lunch, interactive discussions, and much more...
