UMBI Introduces New Development Officer

Baltimore, MD - UMBI is proud to introduce its new development officer, David Bobbitt -- who will serve as primary fundraiser for all five UMBI centers. In addition, David will act as a liaison between UMBI’s fundraising teams and donors.

Before joining UMBI, Bobbitt was Vice President for Advancement at The Washington Center for Internships and Academic Seminars where he built a half-million dollar 30th anniversary gala from scratch, led a $3.7 million capital campaign, and increased annual fundraising more than $700,000. As Director of Development at Capital Hospice, he built the largest hospice fundraising program in America, growing the fundraising program to $5.5 million per year at a $40 million health care institution. Bobbitt received an Echols Interdisciplinary Honors Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Virginia with concentrations in economics and government and was a Jefferson Scholar. He has been a presenter at local and national conferences of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, the major professional association serving the philanthropic community. With more than 10 years experience in his field, Bobbitt is well-versed in all aspects of leading a professional fundraising program including major gifts, direct marketing, planned giving, capital campaigns, and fundraising events.

"I am excited to be part of UMBI, and I look forward to working with the staff at each center to expand our resources. This important mission of research, product development, education, and workforce development is vital to our state and the world. With such exceptional staff and so many successes, UMBI has a great story to tell philanthropic individuals and institutions." said Bobbitt.
