October 3, 2005 IHV Lecture Series Presents National Cancer Institute Director Baltimore, MD- UMBI's Institute of Human Virology hosted the 2nd annual Stewart and Marlene Greenebaum lecture series. Dr. Andrew von Eschenbach Director of the National Cancer Institute, presented a talk entitled "Eliminating the Suffering and Death Due to Cancer by 2015". More than 200 people attended the event at Westminster Hall in Baltimore. The Institute of Human Virology (IHV) is a Center of UMBI, and also affiliated with the School of Medicine at the University of Maryland, Baltimore and the University of Maryland Medical System. IHV was established to create and develop a world-class Program of Excellence focusing on chronic viral diseases and virally linked cancers.  (From left to right) Dr. Robert C.
