August 23, 2005 UMBI Exhibits at the Annual MACO Conference in Ocean City, MD August 17-20, 2005 Ocean City, MD- UMBI President and staff exhibited at the annual MACO Conference in Ocean City Maryland, August 17-20. More than 1,000 federal, state and academic officials attend this annual summer conference at the Roland Powell Convention Center. This year’s conference was titled “Putting Our Best Foot Forward,” and focused on county government matters and best practices of those who have improved efficiency in government, throughout Maryland. Scheduled panel discussions took place during the four day conference and touched upon a variety of topics including Social Security, land use, environmental issues, public health, and tourism matters. In addition, a variety of networking events took place throughout the conference and offered attendees an opportunity to learn more about the more than 200 businesses, county and federal government agencies and academic institutions exhibiting at the conference. The University of Maryland Biotechnology Institute (UMBI) consists of five major research and education centers and is dedicated to advancing the frontiers of biotechnology.
