Yonathan Zohar to Discuss COMB's Blue Crab Research Program on Maryland Public Television

BALTIMORE, Md—Dr. Yonathan Zohar, Director of UMBI's Center of Marine Biotechnology is scheduled to be a guest on Maryland Public Television's live show, "Direct Connection" Monday evening, October 20, 2003. "Direct Connection", a weekly public affairs program hosted by Jeff Salkin, airs on channels 22 and 67 at 7:30pm http://www.mpt.org/newsworks/dc/ for more information). Dr. Zohar will be discussing the blue crab research program at COMB. Steve Phillips of Phillips Foods, Inc., one of the sponsors of this research, will also appear on the program.

The University of Maryland Biotechnology Institute was mandated by the state of Maryland legislature in 1985 as "a new paradigm of state economic development in biotech-related sciences." With five major research and education centers across Maryland, UMBI is dedicated to advancing the frontiers of biotechnology. The centers are the Center for Advanced Research in Biotechnology in Rockville; Center for Biosystems Research in College Park; and Center of Marine Biotechnology, Medical Biotechnology Center, and the Institute of Human Virology, all in Baltimore.
