DANIEL REZNIKOV JOINS UMBI AS VP FOR OPERATIONS AND FINANCE

BALTIMORE, Md. -- The University of Maryland Biotechnology Institute has named Daniel M. Reznikov vice president for operations and finance.

Reznikov will coordinate the overall financial and operational activities of UMBI's five research/education centers: The Center for Advanced Research in Biotechnology, in Rockville; the Center for Agricultural Biotechnology, in College Park; the Center of Marine Biotechnology, the Medical Biotechnology Center, and the Institute of Human virology, all in Baltimore.

"Dan brings vast experience and knowledge of operational systems that will help build and strengthen UMBI to better fulfill its original mission of research, education and economic development," says President Jennie Hunter-Cevera.

Previously, Reznikov was chief financial officer for the American Type Culture Collection, a nonprofit bioscience service organization. In that capacity, he was a senior advisor to the CEO and board of directors on all financial matters. Reznikov has also served as associate director for financial services at Howard Hughes Medical Institute and principal business manager, of Martin Marietta Corporation's Data Systems Division. He holds an M.B.A. from George Washington University and a B.S. in accounting from the University of Maryland, College Park.

Reznikov is a Certified Public Accountant and a member in good standing of the American Institute of CPAs. In 1995 he received the AICPA's Certificate of Educational Achievement in financial management.

An independent component of the University System of Maryland, UMBI is a hub of intensive studies of biotechnology as applied to human health, the marine environment, agriculture, and protein engineering/structural biology.
