CARB Core Facilities

DMX600DMX500

CARB provides a vibrant atmosphere for conducting research in NMR spectroscopy. It maintains a state-of-the-art NMR facility that includes super-conducting magnets operating at 500 MHz and 600 MHz proton resonance frequencies, as well as a complement of resources for research in molecular biology, x-ray crystallography, fluorescence spectroscopy, fast kinetics, calorimetry and computational science.

Another high field spectrometer operating at proton resonance frequency of 600 MHz was installed in 2003. It has an ultrashield magnet with a cryoprobe that helps facilitate the solution studies of biological macromolecules including proteins, nucleic acids.

AC300US600

CARB is also housing a superconducting NMR magnet operating at 300 MHz for proton spectra. This system is equipped with a multinuclear broadband inverse probe, a Quad probe capable of observing 1H, 19F, 31P and 13C as well as the other probes. This particular spectrometer is used as a walk on instrument, and it is available for outside users.
